After being out of the country on my epic month-long backpacking trip through Europe, The Mediterranean, and the Middle East (blog posts about that coming soon!), I definitely needed a bit of a cleanse. I hesitate to use the word “cleanse,” because this health-world buzzword is often overused and made to be extreme when it doesn’t need to be. A cleanse doesn’t have to be a crazy fast or juice diet, it can just mean getting your body on track with simple, whole foods and limiting sugar. Eating on a budget in foreign countries was definitely a stark contrast to my usual superfood-filled and nutrient-dense LA lifestyle diet. And that’s totally OK! I tried all of the native cuisines and signature dishes—and I don’t regret it one bit! Now that I’m back in LA, my body is craving all of those things that I went without while I was away living my best life.

I find that often times my go-to snacks are fruit, Perfect Bars, smoothies, etc.—which is all well and good, but it’s just a lot of sugar. After eating so many carbs (which turns into sugar in your bloodstream. Helllllooooo pita+hummus), I wanted a way to fuel my active lifestyle but limit the extra sugar. I had a box of Fawen Drinkable Soups waiting at my door when I got home, so I decided to drink a bottle of Fawen drinkable soup every day for a 12-Day Challenge to reset and renew my system!

I’ve been drinking Fawen for snack daily and I feel amazing! They’re awesome because you can just grab and go, or if you’re feeling fancy you can heat them up on the stovetop! It’s already in a convenient recyclable bottle, so you can just drink it straight up without a spoon. FAST FOOD that’s healthy and delicious!!

My favorite flavor is the Sweet Potato & Red Lentil. It’s filled with veggies, lentils, coconut milk, lots of grounding spices like anti-inflammatory turmeric and blood-sugar-stabilizing cinnamon, and coconut oil. They provide the perfect amount of energy, protein, and fats for a satisfying yet light pick-me-up. I also love any opportunity to sneak in extra veggies. These are great for kids too because they won’t even realize that they’re eating veggies! Their other flavors are Broccoli & Cauliflower and Beat & Cabbage.

I like doing “cleanses,” that are easy to stick to, attainable, simple, and achievable—yet effective! You don’t need to starve yourself or only drink green juice in order to flood your body with nutrients and up your health game!
